My gauge of fitness has come to be the loop around White Rock Mtn. hence to be known as
"round the mountain." The last time I did this run was the 3rd week in Nevember prior to running the LV 1/2 marathon. This is my favorinte run, I wish I could make it a semi weekly thing, but with an elevation gain of 1600 ft in 2 mi at the start, I settle for maybe once every 3 weeks. Well today my running partner Larry and I tackled it. Well, better said Larry tackled it, I survived it. This run is as long as my longest leg of Ragnar and it is steeper than my last leg, the "Ragnar" stage which is like 1800 ft over 4 miles. I still can't wait to run this relay with my fellow Chasquis.
Did you run today?
Lets hear about it. Pain, dog chase you, had to pee really bad in the middle, who cares?
Check the link and use the speed, distance, elevation, etc buttons on the left.
Well maybe not the speed one, at times it was little more than a walk, but I still ran the whole thing.

Dang dude, that's a sick run. Well done! I'd love to tell some of my latest running tales, but there are none. I have not run since the Springs Preserve 5k on 3/29. Not because I've been lazy, but because my legs have needed to heal up. And the good news is that they have! I now feel very little to no pain when I am walking...which, compared to a week ago when my shins would throb just when I was laying down watching tv, is a huge improvement. This two weeks off have been great for my body and have prevented me from getting burned out or "plateauing". Whether I get back on the street either tomorrow, Saturday or Monday is yet to be determined, but I will pick up right where I should be on the training schedule and be ready for June 20. It's getting close!!!
Anyone else signed up for the Lovell Canyon 10k in a couple of weeks?
Good to hear the "sticks" are healing. No, I haven't signed up for the race yet.
Are any Chasquis thinking of running the Lovell Cyn 10k?
I know Dennis is in and I believe Warren is running it as well.
I don't have a gauge for my fitness but due to the nature of my third leg, I will be making this loop my new gauge. Morgan, shoot me an email a few days before your next run 'round the mountain' and instead of you watching Larry run the mountain like a torch bearer running from the protestors, you and I can take on the hill together.
Also, my home turf is in Henderson. I enjoy a loop around Paseo Verde, Green Valley Parkway, Horizon Ridge and Valley Verde. All in all, it's about 5 miles and depending on which way you run, the loop is easy to moderate. Anyone who wants to join, I typically run this loop on the weekends; send an email.
Matt- good to hear from you. i wish I had read the comment prior to 10 pm on Fri night, I would have met you Sat morning. Not this Thurs, but possibly next Sat or the following Thurs. "round the mountain" is ON.
