Danny Gans 5k run...for a cause

Long time, no post. Here it goes. I am a member of the local swimming community as a masters swimmer. Well, it could be said, I've been a member of the local swimming community for the past 30 years as I started swimming when I was 8. Did I just say 30? WTH?!

I want to relay the story of Alexis. Alexis should be a college freshman right now. Having dedicated a large part of her youth to swimming, she earned a scholarship to Texas A&M Univ to swim on their women's swim team. Having swam at the collegiate level, this is a tremendous accomplishemnt and a TON of fun. Alexis shipped her belongings to College Station ready to start her collegiate career. Literally days before she was to leave for school, mind you she shipped her things previously, Alexis was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Instead of enjoying life as a college freshman, arguably one of the funnest times in anyone's life, Alexis is fighting the BEEYOTCH of a disease, cancer.

The Danny Gans run on Oct 11 benefits the Nevada Childhood Cancer. Go to Active.com and enter Danny Gans Champions Run For Life and then enter under "Team Alexis" and show some support for a friend of mine battling a tough opponent.

BTW I'm back running. Did I just say "back running"? WTH?! The mornings are starting to be cool. 58 degrees this morning up at Red Rock. Lets get some Chasqui runs together.
