Pre-Del Sol Musings

Out running this morning, I turned onto an uphill and what do I see blazing straight at me? A locomotive you may suggest? No. A tricked out 300Z piloted by some guy on X who has had a long night and is trying race home before getting pulled over? No. (that happend earlier in my run) I saw this thin, whisp of a human......Chasqui Jordan was flat flying down Shelbourne. Resplendant in his tights and form fitting running togs. The Arizona desert is 'bout to get lit the eff up.

......anyway, I was humbled. Those Chasquis training and running Del Sol: We are a week and half out from towing the start line in Prescott. Jordan's post previous to this one was AWESOME! Great tips for when our bodies tell our minds to pack it in. I continue to be amazed at what the human body can accomplish when it has the mind behind it. I originally thought 19 miles in roughly 24 hours would be next to impossible. No way, in fact Hell No! When I swam at the Univ of Ariz, we had a sign post on the pace clock we stared at 500 times every day, it read "The body achieves what the mind believes." Truth. La Verdad. Veritas. Read JB's post and re-read it. Great gospel there.

Load up on your vitamin C. I like Emergen-C. You can find it anywhere, cheapest is in the pharmacy area at Wal-Mart. Not only does the C aid in recovery and repair, but you'll be boositng your immune system. Stay Healthy!!! Keep Running.

I second the Emergen-C motion. Powder of the gods.

And yes, I was barrelling down the hill at Chasqui Morgan - mainly because I couldn't stop.

I'm getting excited but also really nervous, more than I thought I would be. I don't really know everyone on the team but I'm so worried I'm going to disappoint everyone....sure I hope I don't let ya'll down!!

Sandy- Take it easy girl. If it isn't fun, its not worth doing. don't worry about knowing everyone. It will only take a few hours being cooped up with some chasquis before you are one of the brood. You won't let anyone down unless you don't have a great time. Then the rest of us might feel we let you down. This will be one of the hardest things you do, but also one of the funnest. Enjoy the journey.

Go Chasquis!

Sandy - there is seriously not one thing on this trip that you need to worry about, ESPECIALLY disappointing people. Even though we don't all know each other, we're all friends and are there to have fun and experience this together. Also, if this were a group that was prone to being disappointed in someone, they would be disappointed in me for how much I HAVEN'T trained for this race. It's gonna be a blast.
