Is anyone else gonna post some race logs, leg reports, accident reports, anything?
It has been 10 days since I last ran. I really think my body is going through withdrawls. Cant wait to swim Nationals this week and get back to the pavement again.
Leg 1
I decided I ran the most scenic leg Ragnar LA had to offer. 7 miles, all on the coast. Not on the left of the highway mind you. Right side, right on the water. Sun was at my back. That was good because as I was changing out of my legit, red Chasqui sweatshirt, i flug my Smith's to who knows where. I ran sans glasses. No worries, better to take in the ocean views. I didn't plan on going really deep in the tank on any of my runs, hoping to diminish recovery time so I can blitz my swim meet this weekend. It was the coast, it was Ragnar, I am a Chasqui so I ended up averaging a nice 7:03 pace over 7 miles. Looking forward to viewing Chasqui Mike's video of this leg as I spotted what I thought were 3 dolphins out in the water, might have even been pilot whales as they appeared nearly black. Very cool. CHP was ever so vigilint cruising up and down this section of the Coast Highway, but they missed one HUGE DB. I will stereotype in the following manner: There was this "SURFER" who had finshed his session of wave riding and was surely in a huge hurry to catch his bra's at the local watering hole for some tasty suds, or maybe he surfed too long and knew his wife wanted home like an hour earlier, or whatever was his weak sauce excuse. Hey, member me? I'm running down the Coast Highway, enjoying an excellent music selection, taking in the atmosphere. Cars are parked along the edge leaving very little shoulder. I get up this DB's car and he bolts out of his space! I jumped to my left, MY LEFT, into travel lanes of the Coast Highway! This was the one minute of the one section where there were no cars coming. If there had been, we would have Chasqui roadkill to deal with. His window down, he proceeds to link a few choice words and throw them in my direction. I let him have his say, I then responded,"thanks douche bag" and was on my way, dispenisng of his shenannigans.
And I still averaged a little over a 7 min mile pace. I wish Chasqui Mike C were there, he would have taken care of the disturbance. My last mile was a 6:51 mile so I was barelling into the exchange, I had the slap bracelet ready for Chasqui Warnie. Where the hell is Chasqui Warnie?! Oh man, I forgot Van 1 was sleeping in a hotel bed. My bad. Leg 2 was epic, stay tuned. Thrills and spills.
Can anyone else throw up a race report? They are super cool to read, come on, you know you want to.
