For you JB - Disney Half

Jordan told me he wanted a mile by mile account, I'll spare you and just give the main points. This was my first half and I loved it. I had so much fun. Not sure if it was because I was running through Disneyland, because my dad and I trained together and ran together, or because I just love the fact that I knew I was capable of running a half. Maybe all of the above.
I wanted to do this race in 2008 but I was pregnant so after I had my baby I asked several people to run it and no one would. My husband told me it was dumb to run that far. I talked my dad into it and we started training, even driving across town several times to do long runs together.

So, race day. I had a goal of 2:30 before I started training and then raised it to 2:15. I ran it in 2:12 so I was happy. The race started just outside of California Adventures and we ran through that park first, then across the large patio area into Disneyland. The beginning of the race was crazy. It was so hard with so many people running through the parks. The route was very narrow, in some spots we were even forced to walk. About mile 3 we were out of the parks and onto the streets. My dad and I stayed together for the first 6 miles but unfortunately, the affects of having 4 kids kicked in and I had to stop for the port-a-potty. However, at mile 7 my dad also had to stop so he ended up being just in front of me the remainder of the race but we didn't realize it until after.
Some of the cool things about the race was running around the field, actually on the field, of Angels stadium. When we got in the stadium the stands had several hundred people and there was a camera so you saw yourself on the big screen as you ran out of the stadium. I wore a Nike shirt that I got printed on the back. It read "My dad is better than your dad." I had several people ask what it was about while running. Several times I checked the Nike+ and my pace was under a 9 minute mile. The last 2 miles I was actually feeling good so I told myself to finish strong. About 200 yards from the finish I saw my family. That's the best. It was a great race. So glad I did it and I can't wait to do another half.
Way excited for Ragnar and to meet those that I don't know and to get to know the others better. Even you, Morgan. See you in 22 days!

According to my Nike+ I ran 13.9 miles and averaged 9.20 a mile.
