Pointless Musings

This last weekend the fam and I had the chance to get down to the beach house for a long weekend. It ended up being 2 completely different trips. The first day and half was absolutely beautiful, southern california weather. The sun was out, temperatures in the low 60's, not a cloud in the sky. In an effort to keep chasquitristan in peak condition, and because so cal jo's are in like 2 weeks, we went in search of a pool for a swim. We found the Laguna Niguel YMCA pool fit the bill nicley. We had a great swim. I swam for about an hour and T swam for an additional 30 mins. Great start to the day. Sunday morning, bright and early, Al and I got suited up. I went for a run while she walked. We follow almost the exact same path I just go a little beyond her turnaround and catch her just in time for a cool down stroll. I ran down to the Dana Point Harbor, down to the southern end of the Doheney beach parking lot and then back along the harbor. I thought I was a little behind Al so I used the flat to stretch out my stride. It really felt good but it also got me tired. Normally I am a bit of a "waddler" when I run, my stride could be longer. I got to the base of "Devil's Gullett" pretty dang tired. Ah hell, no way out of this one. So off I went. That hill kicks my butt. It is short, but is by far on the positive side of a 20% grade. Steep, hors beeyotch, mofo. Ran just a shade over 5 miles I think in beautiful weather. Really looking forward to Ragnar So Cal. Which brings me to....

....We nearly have a full team of Chasquis for Ragnar So Cal. If you haven't paid JB, get him your shekels. I have seen the line up and I can't wait to "bring it" with each of you. Who's gonna be my co-pilot in the Space Shuttle in Ventura? Chasqui Mckay is lobbying early for the "slap bracelet" award that JB and I give out at the end of the race. Mac has 20 miles of Ragnar ahead of him. Very solid. My training is spot on so far. I'm really looking forward to the 6 Tunnels 1/2 Marathon in March. Perfect training run before the LA Ragnar. Chasquis Warnie and Mason are logging some serious miles as well. These aren't Sunday runs either, these two brothers are flat out covering pavement very quickly. Nicely done boys.

Keep training, and stay healthy. Keep checking back. It wouldn't kill anyone to post some training stories either.
