Big Sky Country

Last Sunday I had to go to Helena Montana for a business meeting on Monday afternoon. Notice I "had" to go. I have yet to find a state more beautiful than Montana. Helena happens to be the capitol of the state and I was going to go running. Sunday night it rained buckets of water. I thought there is no way a run is going to happen. I woke up Monday morning to blue skies and puffy white clouds, though storm clouds were brewing all around. If I am going to run, it is going to have to be NOW. So off I went. Decision made.

Started off from the capitol building. Headed down the typical street around the capitol. I'm a sucker for 1870's era Victorian homes, and they are a dime a dozen in the old section of Helena.

From there I descended down into old downtown Helena, I hung a left and headed up Last Chance Gulch. Cool very western, I felt like some desperado on the run with no horse and the posse was close behind. Ok that was kinda lame. I started uphill. Can't get too much hill work in. Fork in the road, hum, paved road or dirt? I say dirt. Grizzly Gulch here I come.

This road was littered with these old mining remnants, kind of cool. Anyway, 3 miles out, 3 miles back to the capitol. What a great run. No better way to get a feel for an unfamiliar town than go for a run.

We're 2 weeks out, I better start to train.
