Back at it

The end of September arguably saw Chasqui Morgan in the best shape he has been in for about 15 years. Well, since the college swimming days. The last week in Sep, I was in the gym and muffed up my shoulder something fierce. Ouch. And the ouch continues. Guess a trip to the ortho is in order, I'm a little afraid that they will actually find something. Shoulder injuries end swimming careers! I don't want that, at all. I'm pretty comfortable doing a lot of different activities. I'm truly at home in the water. In the pool, in the ocean, I just love to swim.

Anyway, the break away from the pool has allowed me to resume a more frequent schedule of cycling, my second love. Nothing better than clipping in for an hour or two of pedaling. I don't race, but i love to get out and hammer. I had two nice weeks of cycling up until the first week in October. One week I even got in 150 miles on 5 rides. Then BAM!! And I mean BAM! With a capital B. Oh, I did use a capital B.

Fri night, Oct 3, after having flu and head cold symptoms for 24 hours, my wife comes to me about midnight and said she is coughing up blood. Blood? Holy S#%#!! We are off to the ER immediately.

17 days later.......double pnemonia, bacterial blood infection, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, entubation (ventilator), major surgery to insert chest tube, extubation (ventilator removal), countless injections and blood withdrawls, am I missing anything? I don't care, I'd rather forget anyways. The wife is home, recovering fabulously, getting stronger and fiestier day by day. Needless to say I got nothing done except for a ton worrying.

I'm glad to be back at it. I wish I could have riddent the ride last Saturday, it sounded fun. Only made more fun by those I could have ridden with. So with that......

Saturday morning, 5:15 am, parking lot of Smith's on Rainbow and Windmill. 40 miles. Up Blue Diamond, 158, down Charleston, then urban assualt on surface streets back to Smiths. I'll do it alone anyways, but it would be more fun as a group.

Stay tuned as Chasqui window/bike frame stickers soon to be available. Bike Jerseys too?

Heather, Sam, any other pedalin' Chasqui's, everyone is welcome. Yeah its early, what else are you gonna be doin'? Sleeping? You can sleep when you die. Let's go riding! There isn't anything better than running/cycling while the sun is coming up. Come on.

Option ride- still starting at Smith's, up Blue Diamond, on over to Red Rock and the overlook, turn around and back. Probably about 35. Maybe this is more realistic? Chime in.

Next group ride, will be leaving from somewhere over in Summerlin area for those living over there. I'm all about equality.

Cool, JB's bringin' hell!!

It's all downhill after the overlook anyway. Might as well take the ride full circle.
