Winter Torture

The above picture shows my usual winter torture chamber.
Early mornings are cold, really cold if you are out on a bike. So, unless I go run outside, this is where I am at. I have managed to hold at bay the onslaught of crap that exists in my garage and set my trainer up in front of a TV. I can usually last about 40 minutes until I start to unravel from boredom. I watch old cycling race DVDs, I have a series of 6-7 interval workout DVD's, but the best has been cycling to old seasons of 24. Jack Bauer rules!

Today, however, Chasqui JB dragged my butt up to the gym to do a spin class. I have always been keenly interested in trying a spin class, but never have. I hate showing up somewhere and not knowing the routine. I am supremely vain in that regard. I want to, at least look like I know what the hell is going on. So I have JB showing me the ropes! Cool. An hour later, the sufferfest ended. I loved it! The LifeCycle's were nicely adjustable, the class leader wasn't a closet drill instructor (unlike coach Troy in my workout DVD's in the garage), the music a bit too Euro/techno for me, but overall a GREAT workout. My legs are a bit noodly in the aftermath. Spin class will be a welcome alternative to garage cycling this winter. Once or twice a week for a little variety will make the winter not so long and dreary. Any other Chasquis have an LVAC membership? Come on out Monday mornings at 5 am, thats right, 5 bells. It would really be fun to get a few others to come out. I can't swear at JB all winter long. I need various outlets for my monster aggression.

Chasqui Matt did you get a bike?

I never past along proper congratulations to those Chasqui chicas who ran the St George Marathon. But job well done, in the elements even. Just like a Chasqui. Good job. I think one of my 09 goals is a marathon. Which one should I do? Any suggestions?

So I totally had my alarm set for 4:30am but I couldn't freakin get up. I DID plan on going though, does that count? I will be there tonight and definitely at Friday 5 am SPIN!

Most would kill for a dungeon like that.

From a Chasqui-wifey... way to have self-motivation! 5 a.m. is just too early for most to even think straight. Good job, guys... and gals, who usually go too :)

Morgan, how about training even earlier, say 12:00 Midnight. I have a better chance at making that than 5:00AM.

Also,nice garage. I approve.

Miguel- I was thinking about something like this. Say a
Fri or Sat night ride. Start about 10 and go till midnight? What do you think? Different take on the "Full Moon" idea.
