Pointless Ramblings, Training Tips, and Props

But not necessarily in that order.

Liesel and Paul- true Chasquis indeed! Job well done in the Painter's 1/2! Paul, 1:37 for your first 1/2? WTH! That's awesome! Come down to Vegas in December and help me go low 1:30's. Leisel, nice race report. Wish I was doin Del Sol with you all. Get signed up for LA though....now....do it....do it.

It was cold this morning as I set out at 5:15 to run. Couple of things:
1. if you stretch before your workout of choice, good on ya! More importantly is the stretch after your workout of choice. Give your muscles the love they deserve within 30-40 minutes of your workout and they will, in return, give you back much more sweet love. It's all in the name of recovery people.

2. it's the dead of winter, well as close to winter as Vegas gets, and it's cold outside. No matter if your workouts are spinning or running on a treadmill at the gym, or road/trail runs outside, don't forget your water. At mile 4 of 6 this morning, I could tell I didn't have the right amount of fluid working for me. Remember your water, not only during your efforts, but after as well.

3. Del Sol Chasquis expecially. I think everyone's legs were increased in distance. Train time not distance. Your body doesn't recognize how far it runs, swims, bikes, or what have you. It only knows how long it is being stressed for i.e. 40 minutes, 1:15, or 2 hours. Distance is only perceptible to the mind.

That is all the wisdom I can impart on this lovely day. I started back in the pool after 4 months off. I feel 40, can't believe I said that. It only gets better right? Right?
