LA details

I have already sent out an e-mail with most of this information on it, but just so everybody has something to refer to:

Departure from Vegas
Anyone planning on rolling to Santa Barbara with the team and the vans needs to meet at my house at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 23 at for a 12 pm departure. The drive to Santa Barbara is about five and a half hours, putting us in SB hopefully by 6 pm and in time for a good team dinner.

Santa Barbara accommodations
We have two options for accommodations in Santa Barbara. One is cheaper and a bit less convenient, the other is more expensive and more convenient.

Option 1: Days Inn Santa Barbara Oceanside. This motel is a half-mile from the start line. I have been assured that it is not in the ghetto like our place in AZ was. The room comes out to about $90/night, and that includes taxes and everything. Compared to the other hotels around it, the $90 was a steal. Click here to access the website.

Option 2: Santa Ynez Marriott. One of our runners is a Marriott employee and was able to get 2 rooms at this hotel for $59/night - one for him and his brother, and another for whomever. Because there is only one room available, it would be best for a group of runners to go in on it together. Also, this hotel is about 30 miles away from the start line, so it's a bit of a drive the morning of the race.

Dana Point accommodations
Our family's beach house filled up pretty quickly, so here are a few nearby hotels. There are also a few different hotels in the Dana Point and San Clemente area. I can't get the link to work for Orbits, so google the Dana Point Harbor Inn and the Americas Best Value Inn Budget lodge in San Clemente. The harbor Inn is right by the finish line, and the Best Value is about 15 minutes away in San Clemente. I also know Liesel will be staying in a hotel in Aliso Viejo. Liesel, could you post the info for that hotel?

So, there's your info! Let me know if you have any questions.

Whoever is staying in Santa Ynez, that's a heck of a long way from the start even if you come over the San Marcos Pass.
