Amid my training on the hardnock streets of Henderson and the unforgiving trails of Red Rock, I'm heading up to cooler weather to run in the Bay to Breakers this weekend in SF. A nice 12k through San Francisco...and although I plan on finishing in a respectable time, I don't think I'll break the record of Ismael Kirui of Kenya who set the men's record with a finishing time of 33:42 in 1993. Let me know if anyone happens to be there, would love to run with a fellow Chasqui on Sunday.
Mr. Morgan, since my inaugural run around the mountain in Red Rock, which I would like to publicly state my many thanks for showing me not only a great run but a beautiful side of Southern Nevada, I've been back several times to take on the great trail...only to remember that you and I have to climb hundreds of more feet in a shorter distance...so please don't forget to bring me a wheel chair. The mountain is however a perfect training ground: good elevation (but don't fool yourself fellow Chasqui's, the altitude at Red Rock still falls short of the mighty Wasatch Mountains but remains one of the best places to train for altitude down here in LV), challenging terrain, and wonderful scenery. I do hope to see the crew on Thursday but we'll see how the 5:00 am slap in the face wake up goes.
And for those fellow Chasqui's who are brave enough to face the tremulous streets of Henderson, I run a short loop, around 4.5 to 5.0 miles, between Paseo Verde, Green Valley Parkway, Horizon Ridge, and Valle Verde. Anyone wanting to join me for a run, just send an email my way.
JB...great job on the shirts, many thanks for your hard work...and should you need any help don't hesitate to set something up through my secretary
Morgan...thanks for a refresher on the history
Congrats to any fellow Chasqui who have challenged themselves in recent races, marathons, personal milestones, or just that Saturday morning run you didn't want to do but pushed through anyway...it all pays off June 20-21
keep counting the miles

Chasqui Matt- Preaching the gospel of the big, blue dome! Well done on the post. Showin' us how it's done. Good luck this weekend in San Francisco, I think I would like to do this run next year. Any excuse to hang out and run in San Francisco, awe heck I don't even need an excuse. Thur. could be up in the air for me. See new post on Race Simulation update. I want to come over Henderville way and run, maybe next week.
Awesome post Matt! I am anxious to run the Henderson loop; however, since you mentioned that your roomie that runs a 5k in 23-25 minutes is slow, I may run this solo so as to not hold you back and be labeled "Super slow".
